Save RCP!
Are you feeling worried, angry or unsure about the news that Rose City Park Elementary School could be shut down next year?
This is NOT a foregone conclusion – Let’s ACT NOW to make sure RCP is not on the final closure list.
PLAN TO ATTEND
Plan to attend the PPS Board Meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 6
The meeting starts at 6 p.m. at Prophet Education Center at 501 N. Dixon St. A pre-meeting rally will start at 5pm.
If you can show up early, you may be able to testify. From the website:
“Requests must be submitted by 12 p.m. the day before the meeting. Walk-up requests are accepted, if space permits, during the fifteen minutes prior to the meeting and must be received before the meeting begins.”
The more people who attend this meeting in person, the better. It may be too late to sign up to comment in person, but a large presence will send a message. Show up in your RCP gear. Make signs. Be there in person if you can. Many teachers will be attending as well, so go to support your kids’ teachers too.
If you can’t show up in person, you can watch online: PPS Board of Education YouTube Channel. Note that watching online is not the same impact as being present with a group.

Suggestions for topics to include in your messages:
Dear PPS Board Members La Forte, Splitt, DePass, Engelsman, Sullivan, Wang, Chase-Miller, and Student Representative Sandell,
- Identify yourself, your school and what grade and program your student(s) are in
- Share your personal story of how RCP has impacted your child, your family and your community.
- Share the impact of closing neighborhood schools and separating our two programs which are one school, in half.
- Share if your children would be separated in the new school if they are in separate programs at RCP.
- What’s special about RCP?
Thank you,
